Slack
Connect a genie to Slack and talk to it by @mentioning it in your channels.
Setup is a single flow: creating the Slack Genie connection in Stacksync automatically installs the Genie app into your Slack workspace.
1. Create the Slack Genie connection
In Stacksync, go to Connections → Create new connection → select Slack Genie.
A Slack window opens asking you to authorize the Genie app for your Slack workspace. Review the permissions and click Allow.
Clicking Allow does everything at once: it adds the Genie app to your Slack workspace (you'll see it appear under Apps in Slack), connects it to Stacksync, and starts delivering your channel mentions to your genies. There is no separate download or installation step.
2. Attach the connection to your genie
Open your genie → Interfaces → Add → Slack. Select the connection you just created.
Optionally, add channel affinity instructions — guidance for where the genie should send messages (for example: "Error reports go to #alerts, everything else stays in the thread.").
Click Save.
3. Set access rights
If your Slack workspace includes people who don't have Stacksync accounts, open the genie's Access rights tab and set Who can use the Genie to Public (authentication not required). Otherwise the genie only answers Stacksync workspace members.
4. Talk to it
The Genie app is already in your workspace from step 1 — just invite it to a channel:
/invite @GenieThen mention it with a question:
@Genie summarize yesterday's new Salesforce leadsThe genie replies in a thread, showing its progress live while it works.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Check |
|---|---|
| No reply at all | Is the Slack interface attached to a connection? Is the bot invited to the channel? |
| No reply for some people | Access rights — non-Stacksync users need Public access. |
| Replies stopped after reinstalling the Slack app | Recreate the Slack Genie connection and re-attach it to the genie. |
