# Versioning

## Versioning

The API version is the first segment of the path: `/v1`. Changes to `/v1` are additive:

* new operations, new optional parameters and request fields;
* new fields in answers.

Write clients that ignore fields they don't know. Any other change will be announced in the [changelog](/changelog).

The machine-readable description of the current version is the OpenAPI document [`/openapi.json`](https://docs.stacksync.com/openapi.json), and [`/openapi-genies.json`](https://docs.stacksync.com/openapi-genies.json) for Genie runs.
