# Versioning and changelog

## Versioning

The API version is the first segment of the path: `/v1`. Changes to `/v1` are additive:

* new operations, new optional parameters and request fields;
* new fields in answers.

Write clients that ignore fields they don't know. Any other change will be announced in this changelog.

The machine-readable description of the current version is the OpenAPI document [`/openapi.json`](https://docs.stacksync.com/openapi.json), and [`/openapi-genies.json`](https://docs.stacksync.com/openapi-genies.json) for Genie runs.

#### API reference moved to docs.stacksync.com

**2026-10-24.** The API reference now lives in the Stacksync documentation, with one page per operation, code samples in curl, Python and JavaScript, and a Markdown version of every page for AI agents. The OpenAPI document is published at [`/openapi.json`](https://docs.stacksync.com/openapi.json). Links to the previous reference keep working for now.
